Start a Morning the HARD Way

Ever since I can remember, I love a boiled egg. I’m not sure why, but that is by far the best way I like my eggs. The egg has to be HARD BOILED for my liking. This is the way I fix my Perfect Hard Boiled eggs. Of course, I use Eggland’s Best eggs (I won 6months of free eggs with one of my recipes).

Place eggs in a pot with water and turn burner on High.

When water starts boiling, cover and turn burner off.

Keep pot on burner for 20 minutes. Do not uncover pot.

After 20 minutes, uncover and run cold water into pot changing temperature of water to colder water. Continue to pour water out of pot and refill with cold water every minute or so until cold water remains more than one minute without getting warmer. I usually let eggs sit for 5 minutes or more in continuous cold water.

Once eggs are cold to the touch. You can then crack, peel and eat. Salt and pepper to taste.

You can also take a resealable plastic bag and load them up with the cold eggs still in their shells and place in the refrigerator. They stay fresh for up to 3 days.

Peel the eggs and add them to mayonnaise and canned tuna or chicken for a quick and easy tuna or chicken salad. Or, simply pull one out of the baggie and peel and eat for an on-the-go protein fix.

    Thank you for this expression of simple eating pleasure. I agree. Boiled eggs, perhaps not too hard boiled, with lightly buttered toasts is one of the best breakfast items for me. I must however mention that the medical fraternity has put a major scare about the cholesterol in the yellow of the egg. That limits the number of times I can enjoy this simple delicacy, but whever I do, it is the most satisfying. Always.

    Definitely one of my favorite foods. I used to take these in my lunch when I was working. Cut them in half, top with mayonnaise, salt and pepper, and they would hold me over till I got home. And they are low calorie too.
